Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for GDC registered dentists with little or no previous experience of implantology.

What does the course cover?

  • The theory and background of implant surgery
  • Anatomy and bone biology
  • Implant design and practical use of the surgical and restorative kits
  • Digital planning using SMOP software for guided surgery
  • Intra-oral scanning using Medit i500 Scanner
  • Soft tissue management, flap design and suturing techniques
  • Treatment planning, consent to treatment and post-operative care
  • Perfecting placement, grafting and closure techniques on models and pig’s heads
  • Simple implant placement on a live patient

Course aims and outcome

Our interactive course aims to provide participants with the basic knowledge and understanding required to carry out a dental implant procedure. By the end of the course, participants should have a basic knowledge and understanding of dental implantology and will have placed a dental implant in a patient under supervision.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for all GDC registered dentists who have little or no experience of the field of implantology and who may be considering embarking on a training programme to develop their skills in implantology.

Course aims and outcome

This course aims to provide participants with the theoretical knowledge needed to understand implant surgery. At the end of this course participants will have a basic understanding of dental implantology, the advantages and disadvantages of dental implants and how to competently set up the surgery and prepare the patient.

This course is designed to give participants a basic understanding of digital planning, impression techniques and the processes involved at the lab. By the end of the course, participants should understand the different impression techniques, how to take digital and conventional impressions accurately and what is involved at the lab to complete a case. Participants should also understand digital implant planning using SMOP and when to implement guided surgery.

This theoretical and hands-on course aims to give participants a basic understanding of soft tissue management, raising flaps in surgical procedures, suturing techniques, instruments, and different types of sutures used. By the end of the course participants will have been able to demonstrate a range of flap designs and suturing techniques carried out on a porcine maxilla.

Module 4 – Case Reviews and Practical Implant Placement

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for GDC registered dentists who have completed a theory and practical soft tissue management course in implantology and who want to enrol onto an advanced, hands on implant training course.

What does the course cover?

  • Patient case review of the patient you will be treating
  • Review of the patient’s radiographs, CBCT scans, photos and SMOP planning
  • See the produced guide and test on model for fit
  • Using the above, plan the flap raise and implant placement
  • Use of the Snucone compact surgical kit and guided kit
  • Raising the flap on the patient
  • Supervised simple implant placement on a patient
  • Suturing
  • Post operative care for the patient

Course aims and outcome

This course is designed to give participants a basic understanding of the planning process and to provide a practical, hands-on introduction to implant surgery. By the end of the course, participants will have a basic understanding of case planning and will have placed 1 implant on a patient under supervision.
